Our estates at the doorstep of France's most beautiful monuments
2026 has been a wonderful year for the heritage of the regions where three of our estates are located. The Château de Grignan finished 2nd in the "France's Favorite Monument" competition, and the Chartres Cathedral 6th: two iconic monuments just minutes away from the Domaine de la Vivande, the Domaine de Vaujoly and the Domaine de la Thibaudière. This is a great opportunity to look back at what makes the heritage of these regions so rich, and why it matters for your weddings, seminars, and private stays.

A year of heritage celebrated with national recognition
Each year, as the European Heritage Days approach, France celebrates its monuments through the France's Favorite Monumentcompetition, hosted by Stéphane Bern on France 3. Fourteen sites, one from each region, compete every summer under the public's gaze. The 2026 edition, revealed on September 16, highlighted the rich heritage of several regions where our estates are located: the Drôme Provençale and the Eure-et-Loir.
Beyond the rankings, this news highlights an obvious fact: our estates are never isolated. They are part of regions steeped in history, just minutes away from sites that are listed as historical monuments or UNESCO World Heritage sites. This is a valuable asset for anyone organizing a wedding, seminar, or private stay at one of our venues.
Domaine de la Vivande, at the doorstep of the Château de Grignan
In the Drôme Provençale, the Domaine de la Vivande, a stone bastide nestled in Marsanne, is located about 30 minutes from the Château de Grignan. This Renaissance palace, a listed historic monument and designated Musée de France, placed 2nd in the 2026 "France's Favorite Monument" competition, just behind the Art Deco Roger Salengro swimming pool in Pas-de-Calais. This proximity allows wedding parties, seminar teams, or private travelers to combine the Provençal authenticity of the estate with a heritage excursion in the heart of a region now celebrated on a national scale.
Domaine de Vaujoly and Domaine de la Thibaudière, near Chartres Cathedral
In Eure-et-Loir, two of our estates are located near another national masterpiece: the Chartres Cathedral, a UNESCO World Heritage site since 1979 and ranked 6th in the 2026 "France's Favorite Monument" competition. The Domaine de Vaujoly, a former 16th-century seigneurial farm in Courville-sur-Eure, is just 25 minutes away. The Domaine de la Thibaudière, a 17th-century residence in Faverolles on the edge of the Rambouillet forest, is about 40 minutes away. Two different ways to experience the same region, between the Beauce, Perche, and Île-de-France areas, each less than an hour from one of the world's greatest Gothic structures.
Why choose an estate near a heritage site?
Organizing an event near a renowned monument is about more than just the scenery. It also offers:
- An easy excursion to offer guests traveling from afar, the day before or after a wedding
- A cultural break to include in a residential seminar program, between work sessions
- A great idea for a stroll to extend a private stay with family or friends
- A strong sense of place, rooting every celebration in a region with a living history
In both cases, the proximity of an iconic heritage site enriches the experience offered by our estates without ever overshadowing it: each remains, first and foremost, a full-fledged reception venue designed to host weddings, seminars, and private events in an authentic setting.
Heritage, a signature of the Domaines & événements collection
Beyond the surrounding monuments, our heritage is also found within our estates themselves. From Provençal bastides and manorial farms to 17th-century residences, each of the eight venues in our collection was born from historic architecture, carefully restored to blend authenticity with modern comfort. This appreciation for heritage, whether local or unique to each estate, is an integral part of the Domaines & événements identity.
