To avoid any missteps – even if the ideal soundtrack doesn't exist… because you are unique – mix classics, hits from the last decade, and more niche songs. And most importantly, just like at the Olympic Games ceremony, create several musical 'tableaux' for an 'emotional rollercoaster'.
For the secular or religious ceremony, emotional music is a must. It's perfectly fine to move away from the Wedding March by Mendelssohn, to select lovely, sweet, and mellow tunes such as " At Last" by Etta James, "Hallelujah" by Jeff Buckley…We can pick from Aretha Franklin, Nat King Cole, Norah Jones, Stacey Kent and her "What a wonderful world", or why not "Happy" by Pharrell Williams, to accompany the entrance of the bride or groom. We envision beautiful melodies for the big "I do" and the kiss, and we celebrate the end of the ceremony and the newlyweds' exit with a "Sunny" by Boney M or even a "Crazy in Love" by Beyonce. In short, each moment has its own emotion, and anything goes: mix classical and contemporary music, let your heart choose!
The welcome reception or cocktail hour is the prelude to the rest of the festivities. The music should gradually build and set the mood with "chill-out" sounds – "cool and relaxing" – allowing your guests to converse. With options like Jazz, Bossa, pop, world music…the range is vast.
